my new tech toy: N95!!
I traded my good ol’ N73 for a new N95 and this multimedia computer by Nokia is a gem. The top notch features include:
- GPS: not much use in karachi due to the lack of maps, but still it does work giving coordinates fairly quickly (with the new firmware, v20). I do intend to use it in some other mysterious way at a later stage.
- WLAN: yes! it hooks up pretty easily
- 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics
- some other great features….which are advertised on nseries.com
- oh and not to forget, TV out option
- and it also uses standard headphones, which i wanted for quite a while
But, what the guys at Nokia never advertised before is that N95 is also equipped with an accelerometer!!!! I don’t know how they kept quiet on this for so long…so what can an accelerometer do?? I will post a detailed account on this soon…..but trust me, its magical!
Tanhai…
Tanhai, Sangdil Tanhai, Sang Laai Yaad Teri Sang Lai
Baar Baar Woh Bahaar Phir Se Yaad Aai
Sooni Sooni Raah Dil Ki Jisne Thi Sajai
Tanha Dil, Roya Re…Dil Roya Re
Har Taraf Bikhre Hain Teri Yaad Ke Hi Nishaan
Meri Har Ek Cheez Mein Hai Teri Hi Parchhaayiyaan
Tu Hi Hota Hai, Tu Hi Rehta Hai Mujhme Har Dum Sada
Paas Bhi Tu Hai, Door Bhi Tu, Hai Yeh Kaisi Khala
Yaad Banke Ashk Teri Aankhon Mein Samaayi
Yaad Banke Ik Hansi Honton Pe Bhi Aayi
Tanha Dil, Roya Re…Dil Roya Re
The curse of Rawalpindi?
Pakistan’s first PM, Liquat Ali Khan, was shot dead in a public meeting at the Municipal Park, Rawalpindi. He was shot twice in his chest by a man sitting in the audience. Municipal Park, where he was assassinated, was renamed Liaquat Bagh Park in his honor.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, fromer President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, was executed by hanging in Rawalpindi (his trial remains controversial).
Benazir Bhutto, another former PM of Pakistan, was assasinated just outside the Liaquat Bagh Park (formerly, Municipal Park), Rawalpindi.
Running WordPress offline
I stumbled upon this nifty tutorial that explains in detail (with screenshots) about installing and running the WordPress package offline on local computer. A package called XAMPP is required which runs Apache, MySQL and PHP on the machine without the need to install them. Here goes the link.
To use permalinks in offline mode change
AllowOverride None
to
AllowOverride All
in /apache/conf/httpd.conf file in addition to what the tutorial asks you to do.
And if you wish to synchronise the two databases (web and pc) check this out (under the section “Synchronizing WordPress Data”).
Note: You can also carry your WP blog on your USB stick. Follow this link for more.
Benazir Bhutto – assasinated!
The assasination, death, murder, shahadat (or whatever it may be termed) of Benazir Bhutto was undoubtedly the most tragic and heinous crime act the people of this country has witnessed in decades. The news spread like a wildfire yesterday and the reaction of the party workers are all over the TV screens. The impact of her death is not only felt locally but also worldwide, where the global stock markets are rattled by the murder. No wonder, she was a big name.
CNN reported that just a day before her death, she was named as the most influential women in 2007 by some sort of survey conducted by MSN. This news was carried out in most newspapers as well (link).
