Shahbaz Sharif's Constitutional Crisis!
While the LHC has ruled in favor of Shahbaz Sharif, despite ruling against his elder brother, the challenges for the CM Punjab are far from over. He’s now caught in constitutional intricacies which will require more judgements from the higher courts. Shahbaz Sharif was elected unopposed from PP-48, after which he took the office of Chief Minister Punjab. Interestingly, he forgot to withdraw his candidature from other seats from which he was contesting. One of those seats is PP-10 from which he is declared the winner, unopposed, again.
According to the Constitution article 223:
“Subject to Clause 2 if a member of either house or of a provincial assembly becomes a candidate for a second seat which in accordance with clause 1 he may not hold concurrently with his first seat, then his first seat shall become vacant as soon as he is elected to the second seat”
If he does relinquish his seat, he gives up the seat of CM and needs to take another oath. BUT (the best part!) … According to Chief Executive Order 19 of 2002, nobody can hold the CM office for the third time unless the law is amended
Good Luck CM
This further shows the gross negligence of the so-called lawyers of PML-N. Jaahil is the key word.
i'm updated!
After incessant chirping of a very good friend, who doesn’t like to see incomplete (or should I say messy?) works, I have finally added some text to the About page of this blog. This time, it’s more than a one-liner. In fact, it suffices the requirement of this friend, who has no other shut-up switch. I’ve always thought of writing some very detailed essay-like composition for that page, but that though has never made it to my high-priority to-do lists. For now, this just serves the purpose and give an idea of the person (mis)handling this web space.
Student Visa Process Explained
This is an extremely pragmatic comic which explains the woes of foreign education, from application process to graduation, in a light-hearted manner. It is intended to be comical but I found it more towards the serious side, in the end. Click to enlarge the image.
Nawaz Slapped!
The High Court of Lahore has declared Nawaz Sharif unfit to contest the elections. The decision has officially rendered him useless. Given the list of charges against Nawaz Sharif and his attempt of hijacking the plane carrying the COAS of the time, this result was inevitable. To any common man, a thug, like Sharif, doesn’t deserve to represent anything or any part of this country. He has championed the art of looting and plundering, and even attempted to hijack a plane and kick the COAS onboard. The man born from the nursery of GHQ, under extreme care of Lt. Gen (r) Hameed Gul, should have been forced to stay in Pakistan to serve his life sentence.
Bravo Judiciary! You’ve made us all proud.
GEO Changes Tone
More surprisingly, than refreshingly, the two famous programs on GEO namely Capital Talk and Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath and the distinguished guests on them had very different opinions.
- Ansar Abbasi said that is is unfair to blame the President for everything that is happening and the Parliament should be held responsible. He said that his sources have revealed that it wasn’t the President (alone) behind the closure of GEO’s programs in Dubai and the court decision against Nawaz Sharif, but the Government of Pakistan had a major role in that as well.
- Mr. Abbasi also alleged some PML-N leaders who had to relinquish their lucrative ministries were willing to accept PCO judges to get those back! It’s on record folks, watch Capital Talk (23rd June). He mentioned that Ishaq Dar approved the increase in the number of judges on behalf of PML-N and later Nawaz Sharif claimed of having no idea about it.
- Absar Alam, another member of anti-Musharraf campaign, called Yousuf Gilani a dummy PM (finally!). He reasoned that Shaukat Aziz was given much more press coverage, had a greater role in decision-making and had a better image among people while Gilani isn’t perceived of making even minor decisions without daddy’s nod. He also cited few examples in the program of Kamran Khan dated 23rd June.
- Ansar Abbasi also alleged that all decisions are being made at the Zardari House (late to realise Mr. Abbasi?).
This should exonerate President Musharraf of the unusual and absurd blames that were charged against him by these journalists and the political parties. What I see now is that the guns of these journalists and media men have been redirected from the President House to Zardari House.
