Dear Customer, as per the Budget announced by the Govt. of Pakistan GST/CED will now be applicable @ 21% on all telecom services w.e.f. 1st July 08.

This is the first message I received on my phone today, sent by the operator.
The GST/CED has been raised from 15% to 21%, and is applicable on calls, text messages and all services. And they call it the budget for poor? The use of mobile services among the poor rose sharply in the past 2 years, and now the beast (aka Government) wants its share from this high usage as it does with anything that becomes popular.
what about prepaid users ? if somebody topup for 100 they get 90 rs approx. what now then ? are they going to charge 15 or 20 rs instead of 10 rs ?

again for getting some thing…its like 21% GST/CED and another tax of 10% (not sure what it is called…so is cell still cheaper ???
