Nawaz Adliya!
And today, the judiciary is finally independent. Yeah right! The so-called Nawaz Azaad Adliya has delivered a verdict to allow the Sharif Sr. to contest the election paving the way for his premiership, according to a change in set up which is widely being talked about. The decision was expected, ofcourse. How can the judges not favour PML-N? They had been doing so even during Mushrraf’s regime. And after what Nawaz did for them, certainly they are indebted to the bald man and give something back to him.
My question remains that isn’t Sharif the same man who has an entire city made for his family in Raiwind? I mean, come on!! Is is the money of his own business? If so, then why doesn’t any other agricultural gets his own city? And what about an attempt to sack an army chief while he was onboard, and then hastily appoint a new one causing a rift in army? How constitutional was that? Oh, and the attack on Supreme Court? An attempt to become the ammer-ul-momineen? What about the retreat from Kargil sitting in the kitchen of White House? The other industrial and financial scandals seem too small to mention here.
But right, as Saad Rafiq says, ‘hum ne tobah karli hai’
All my previous doubts about the judiciary have come back now with this decision. If the judge can be brave enough to say NO to an army chief, he (and the team) should also be brave enough to point out corruption among the ranks of politicians esp. who are highly likely to grab the powerful seat in near future.
What I am glad about is that the 17th Amendmend bars a 3rd time premiership and with PPP not interest (not yet) in giving this away right now, Nawaz is unlikely to get his dream fulfilled unless ofcourse, the azaad adliya comes in to have its say on the controversial amendment.
Until then, Shahbaz Sharif can take the place instead of brother and give it to him when the obstacles are removed.
So much for adliya ki azaadi!
Big Mouths!
Even an unborned child in Pakistan knows the fame attached with the name of Asif Ali Zardari. He has been certified by most eminent historians and analysts as one of the most important factors for the fall of his wife’s government. Most of the corruption charges during the two tenures involved Zardari. Not only Asif, but his father, Hakim Ali Zardari has been famously notorious for a long time and had been convicted on numerous occasions. The title of Mr. 10% and more-than-rumors of his involvement in the murder of Mir Murtaza Bhutto and now even in that of Benazir Bhutto are well known across the country. Describing Asif Ali Zardari in one word is a tough ask. Is Zardari a politician or a criminal? The latter is by far the more popularly accurate description. The tags of drug trafficking, BMW cars, murder, Switzerland accounts and money laundering are all different aspects of this character.
The question is whether the words of such a person is credible enough? Should the nation believe in what is said by the man who has been washed off his sins by a controversial ordinance (which BTW, was issued legitimised BECAUSE of the Nov. 3 emergency)? Are we really ready to have Zardari as the next president???
Can we forgive Zardari just because he can say (without proof) that Musharraf has misused the US aid?
On the other hand, the calls for a trial and jailing of Musharraf by Nawaz Sharif also deems an explication in detail. How can a person who couldn’t stand to live in the jail for a few days, after being convicted by the court in the airplane conspiracy case, say that someone else should be jailed? Nawaz used all his influence to get out of Pakistan and live in a royal exile and this is historical fact now verified by all parties involved in the agreement. Why doesn’t the same logic of exile apply to any other Pakistani (including Musharraf)? Does the years of exile in Saudi Arabia exonerate Sharif of his heinous political sins and acts?
I would like to see Musharraf going to trial and the case dealt with impartially but never at the call and wish of corrupt morons like Zardari and Sharif.
Power Abuse
This news article is not something new. It happens everyday in different parts of Pakistan. The person who said NO is suspended. The event managed to make it to the last page among the least important news items. Why not the main page? Why not demonstrate in favor of the police officer? Why, why, why?!! This is worse in fact. Not only is the office holder abusing his power but his whole family is doing it as well. A collective abuse of power!
Nawaz Slapped!
The High Court of Lahore has declared Nawaz Sharif unfit to contest the elections. The decision has officially rendered him useless. Given the list of charges against Nawaz Sharif and his attempt of hijacking the plane carrying the COAS of the time, this result was inevitable. To any common man, a thug, like Sharif, doesn’t deserve to represent anything or any part of this country. He has championed the art of looting and plundering, and even attempted to hijack a plane and kick the COAS onboard. The man born from the nursery of GHQ, under extreme care of Lt. Gen (r) Hameed Gul, should have been forced to stay in Pakistan to serve his life sentence.
Bravo Judiciary! You’ve made us all proud.
