PML-N Sucks!! *A MUST WATCH*

This is a must-watch program!!! Watch the complete talk show but if you’re in a hurry just fast forward 20min and watch the through the end. This goon from PML-N was even made a minister in the initial stages.

Click Here To Watch: In Session 29th January

The point here is that if someone hated the Musharraf era and the ministers of that time, is this the way to talk to them? Is this the fuckin democracy they all wanted? I absolutely loathe the Sharif Bros and Co. and this man has given me yet another reason to do so. The way he speaks shows his true colours and intentions. Right now they are talking in this manner to their opponents and if (God forbid) they get the government, they will talk to the people (awam) like this.

Democracy is all about listening to others and being tolerant. So why can’t these assholes do so? Have they forgotten the attempt to make Nawaz Sharif the ameer-ul-momineen?

And since they are so democratic, they should also know that there is a large population in Pakistan that loves Musharraf, and speaking in this manner they are indirectly insulting those people. If they think that Musharraf is to be blamed for all the problems, then the blame goes to Sharif who forced Jahangir Karamat to resign and brought in Musharraf as the COAS. So who is to be blamed? And then tried to fire him (while he was onboard) to bring another change in army leadership. Why was he so desperate? Obviously for that chair! So who’s to be blamed?!!!!!

Pakistan Cricket Suffers Another Blow By BCCI

As expected, the BCCI has refused to send its team to Pakistan citing the current so-called Pakistan-sponsored attacks in Mumbai as the reason, and not safety of its players. On one hand, the Indian government seemingly agrees that the government of Pakistan (GOP) was not involved but the terrorists came from Pakistan. If they really mean it, then not sending the team means doing what the terrorists wanted: strain Indo-Pak relationship. Ironically, when English team left amidst the deadly attacks, Indians touted that the cancellation of series will mean the terrorists’ victory. Double standards?

In an excellent piece of article Ramiz Raja explained why PCB is so desperate for Indians to visit: PCB is crippling financially and depends on India for support.

To stand with the BCCI in order to support their in-house rivalry of leagues, PCB banned players going the ICL thus denting Pakistani cricket badly. Then India launched IPL. Both leagues resulted in huge revenues for India but who suffered? PAKISTAN!

This recent tour cancellation is a deliberate move to accrue to the financial sufferings of Pakistan cricket. The reason is absurd. On the same reasoning Pakistan should never tour India citing their involvement in 1971 war and support for rebels. In 1999, Pakistan toured India despite threats by the extremists. For what? Do they love India?

Now that the BCCI is politicking with cricket, the PCB should take a stand. The ban on all ICL players should be immediately lifted. I wonder why people don’t even discuss these matters on TV shows or write on them. IPL and ICL have produces brilliant cricketers for India, but Pakistani cricket has suffered badly. Pakistan should not tour India next year to reciprocate this notorious act. Similarly those guys playing in ICL, IPL and any other crappy Indian league should just stop playing with them if they have some shame left.

I request all bloggers to write something to get attention on this issue, especially on getting all ICL players back to Pakistan’s national front. If you guys write in newspapers, or know someone in media do try to highlight this issue. In my view, this is a national cause. Lets try to get some pride back!

Petrol Prices in Pakistan: An Analysis

The petrol prices have shown a predictable rise in the recent past, but the amount of rise is unpredictable according to some analysts. What I want to analyze here is the prices of petrol in the near future. With all sorts of political uncertainties and crumbling economy the prices of petrol in Pakistan is likely to increase by a greater percentage than the international market.

The petrol price internationally in February 2008 peaked at $103.05 per barrel while the price in July reached about $147.02 per barrel (at the time of writing this article). This shows an increase of 42.67%. In the same interval Pakistan’s petrol prices per liter have jumped up from Rs.53.70 to Rs.86.66 which is a rise of 61.38%. This just proves the above point, and with no end to political crises and rising international petrol prices in sight, the effect on local petrol prices can well be imagined. The following figure shows the petrol prices in the country after the February 18 elections. All statisticians can extend that line of rising gradient and predict the future prices easily.

According to FuturePundit the petrol prices in 2012 is predicted at $225 per barrel. Comparing this with the prices in February 2008, the increase is a whopping 118.34%. As I said earlier, the Pakistani economy cannot sustain this easily and the price hike in Pakistan can be estimated at 170.22% using the same proportion of increase as today. Assuming that the government continues to provide some subsidy as it does today (the minister has already said that no subsidies will be given on petrol next year!), the petrol prices in Pakistan in 2012 will be Rs.145.11 per liter. My guesses are a price higher than this calculation because of the war-like situation in tribal areas and the political situation which is still worsening (there’s more to it!). It will probably be around Rs.160-170 per liter.

Happy cycling in 2012! ;)

Daylight Saving Time: What's the Fuss All About?

Tonight, there won’t be midnight in Pakistan for a second time. But there will be chaos, at least it is said so. It has already started. Some people have already refused to advance their clocks. Some claim they cannot offer Maghrib prayers at 8 while others simply call it a political move.

For me, politics is the keyword here. In Pakistan, every move of government is seen in a political backdrop. The followers of one party may not accept the decision of a sitting government while readily agreeing to it if the government is their own.

It’s like moving from ‘Musharraf time’ to ‘Zardari time’, says a retired government official as Pakistan adopts Daylight Saving Time (DST) on June 1 and advances the clock by an hour.

The above statement is a prime example of foolishness and height of illiteracy.

With more than 80 countries around the world applying DST, there is no doubt in its effectiveness. On government’s part a fiery and effective campaign is needed to educate the people (at least those who are willing).

In a very serious discussion with me at the airport, a guy expressed his anger at the government for adopting Westernized Time.

The debate is completely futile considering the country is facing a 4000MW electricity shortfall. Every single Watt counts at this time. I’d even back the government had they decided to advance the clock by more hours!

As an alternative to DST, will the people in the major cities of Pakistan accept office hours starting at 7 instead of 9? I guess not. This luxury of waking up late and going to work even later will not be compromised by most.
